Schrödinger's Cat

Schrödinger's Cat
I'm happy just to be a member of the the human race
Floating through the universe, A point in time and space,
Born in singularity, this galaxy is fine for me
Nothing here that worries me at all
I comprise of elements formed deep in distant stars ,
The same as those found in the sun or Jupiter or mars,
Nothing more and nothing less, than Einstein's quantum weirdness
nothing metaphysical at all
I don't need the answers I'm still grappling with the questions,
I'd rather take my chances just like Schrödinger's cat,
Before the big inflation there was quantum fluctuation
And no one knows what happened before that
I don't need God or Jesus Christ, to get me through my day,
I prefer the questions to the answers anyway
All those robed and bearded men,
Scarring children's hearts and then Selling them salvation for their sins,
Sin is when you break the rules they make to keep you down,
Who you sleep with who you love ,Before you hit the ground
With cruel hearts so filled with hate, Standing guard at heavens gate,
Ain't It great to live the Christian life
I don't need the answers I'm still grappling with the questions,
I'd rather take my chances, like Schrödinger's cat,
Before the big inflation there was quantum fluctuation
And no one knows what happened before that
Bridge
If I was there at the final sunrise,
I'd stand on the edge of the void, and dive
We evolved from simpler forms and bits of DNA
Self replicating chemicals don't happen in one day
One step forward, two steps back, constantly under attack
Darwinian competitors and other nasty predators.
When the universe grows tired and terminally old,
heat death come to everyone and it is dark and cold,
And absolutely zero kelvin rules the kingdom come
And everything that ever lived or breathed will be long gone
A bit depressing if you think about it for too long
I don't need the answers I'm still grappling with the questions,
I'd rather take my chances just like Schrödinger's cat,
The galaxies will fly apart, cold and dead like at the start
And nothing else will happen after that

If It All Goes South
03:25
|
|||
I'm not the only one to find it hard to put in words how I feel
And songs would grow on trees, if it was easy
I'm not one for long good byes
But I suppose that I could try
Chorus :
If it all goes south
And my time runs out
You'll still be the one, my only one
Never thought I'd throw my hat back in the ring
For one last fling after her
You never know when loves just round the corner
I never knew ’til i found you
That I could have a dream come true
Chorus :
If it all goes south
And my time runs out
You'll still be the one, my only one
I'm not counting chickens here, I'm not making hay
I won't let the grass grow under my feet
I won't waste the day
So take your time, breathe in deep before I lay down
One more time to sleep
Tell me that you won't be far behind me
And I will see your smiling face
Far away in another place
Chorus :
If it all goes south
And my time runs out
You'll still be the one, my only one

Red Rocks ( Sorry Just Isn’t Enough )
There are more than red rocks here,
There are more than rocks and sand,
Echoes of the dispossessed
The story of this land,
Take our children take our home,
The sacred earth that we come from,
give us alcohol, give us flour,
A god for our final hour.
Chorus :
Red rocks, red sand ,
black blood, white hands,
Red rocks, red sand
Black clouds coming down, across the great divide.
Who knows how long we been here
The song lines tell of countless years
From desert sand to river mud
This earth is in our blood , and written on these
Chorus :
Red rocks, red sand ,
black blood, white hands,
Red rocks, red sand
Black clouds coming down, across the great divide.

Walking the stockmen of vestys land
It wasn't just money or better conditions
Respect for his people and ancient traditions
Charlie Perkins on the freedom ride,Looking back on the great divide
John Platt died in Roebourne jail, screaming how the system failed
While we set up inquiries, Royal Commissions,
Armies of dogooders all on a mission,
Reports are released at the end of the day and all we have to say,
Sometimes sorry just isn't enough
Sometimes sorry just isn't enough

Captain Bob
05:16
|
|||
A Captain Bob
(Chorus }
Fifty years he sailed the Shenandoah
Steady hand upon the wheel , kept her on an even keel,
Raise the anchor , hoist the sail , were headed out to sea again,
One more time with captain Bob, aboard the Shenandoah.
In nineteen sixty three or four Captain bob began the chore
to build a square top schooner from oak and Douglass fir
built her sound and sailed her down,to Martha's Vineyard and all around
The legend of the black dog ships was born
.
We hoist the sail while Billy sings a verse of South Australia,
Heave away until we hear the call for up behind,
Fifteen knots 'll make her run, chase the wind and catch the sun,
Drop the anchor, fire the guns , and moor off Nor Shorn island
.
It's dark and stormys ,every night, with music in the galley,
We play and sing and drink until the last song fades away
Billy's singing up a storm, all the players play along
And Captain Bob spell binds us with his salty sea dog stories
.
"Ready on the throat, ready on the peak"', land lubbers on the briny deep,
There's Yanks and Pommies, Aussie ,Scots, such a sad bedraggled lot,
We stay up late to sing and drink, and when the heads begin to stink
We take the party up on deck to keep the crew from sleeping.
.
So Captain Bob and motley crew, I'll sing this ditty just for you,
It's my way of saying thanks for the good times that I've had,
All the nights beneath the stars, between the ocean and the spars
I'll shed a tear or two, when we dock at Vineyard Haven

The Diamantina Drover
04:31
|
|||
The faces in the photograph have faded
And I can't believe he looks so much like me
For it's been ten years today
Since I left for Old Cork Station
Sayin' I won't be back till the drovin's done
For the rain never falls on the dusty Diamantina
And a drover finds it hard to change his mind
For the years have surely gone
Like the drays from Old Cork Station
And I won't be back till the droving's done
It seems like the sun comes up each morning
Sets me up and takes it all away
For the dreaming by the light
Of the camp fire at night
Ends with the burning by the day
For the rain never falls on the dusty Diamantina
And a drover finds it hard to change his mind
For the years have surely gone
Like the drays from Old Cork Station
And I won't be back till the drovin's done
Sometimes I think I'll settle back in Sydney
But it's been so long it's hard to change my mind
For the cattle trail goes on and on
And the fences roll forever
And I won't be back till the drovin's done
